Welcome to the Race For Joe

The Race For Joe, a 5K run/walk event in Franklin Park, is held in memory of Joe Guzzetti. 

Joe was a graduate of North Allegheny High School in McCandless, PA.  Joe was captain of the feared Quad-A North Allegheny High School football team.

On February 6, 2008, a day that stunned the community, Joe suddenly died of an epileptic seizure. He was just 24 years old. The Race For Joe is being held in Joe's memory. All proceeds will benefit scholarships for graduates of North Allegheny High School.

The First Annual Race for Joe was held April 11, 2009.

Race Day Information

Start/Finish/Check-In: the race start, finish and packet pickup area are all at the same place, the corner of Sandhurst and King Charles Drive in the Borough of Franklin Park.  If you want to program your GPS, the address is 1572 King Charles Drive (Google Map)

Parking:  the best approach to the start is to take Rochester Rd to Sandhurst Drive and follow Sandhurst; you will be greeted by a volunteer who will help you find a place to park.  Please avoid parking on King Charles Drive as this is part of the race course.

Race Course:  the 3.1 mile course through Brook Park straddles the boroughs of Franklin Park and McCandless.  There are some nice downhills in the course, so enjoy them while you can.
